The primary focus of the Design, Biostatistics, and Research Ethics Support and Training (DBEST) Core is to collaborate with new investigators by providing design, analysis, research ethics and oversight support during all phases of a study, from conceptualization to dissemination of results. Such collaboration has been effective in correcting common design flaws which can invalidate conclusions, decrease efficiency, and increase patient risk. Our overall goal is to support as many unfunded clinical and translational investigators as possible through CCTS funding.
Biostatistics and design support is led by the Center for Biostatistics in conjunction with faculty from the Division of Biostatistics in the College of Public Health and from the Department of Statistics in the College of Mathematical and Physical Sciences. Research ethics support is provided by faculty in the College of Public Health who have played a prominent role in patient advocacy and research ethics and regulatory training in the OSU Medical Center.
